Neal Gozzett successfully persuades court to withdraw a court warrant for his client, a former media personality, for failing to attend trial and sentence client in absence. His client was in another country for personal reasons and Mr. Gozzett addressed the court at length on the principles highlighted in R v Anthony [2003] 1 AC 1 [2002] UKHL 5 and s.11 Magistrates Court Act 1980. The court agreed with his complex submissions and proceeded to sentence in absence, concluding the case for the client who was extremely grateful.
